Sakura Night New Tab & Sakura Night Theme · Last updated: November 2026

Sakura Night New Tab ("the extension") replaces Chrome's new tab page with an animated cherry-blossom background, a clock, a search box and the user's own shortcuts. Sakura Night Theme only changes Chrome's colours. This policy explains what data they do and do not handle.

Data We Collect

We collect nothing. Neither the extension nor the theme sends any personal data, usage data or analytics to the developer. There are no accounts, ads or tracking.

What Stays on Your Device

Your shortcut list and settings (dim level, show/hide shortcuts) are saved in Chrome's own extension storage. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs them to your other devices through your Google account; the developer never receives them.

The first time the new tab opens, the extension reads your most-visited sites once to fill your starting shortcuts. This list is never read again and never leaves your browser. Site icons come from Chrome's local icon cache.

What Is Sent to Google

While you type in the search box, the text you have typed is sent to Google's suggestion service (suggestqueries.google.com) to show search suggestions, the same way Chrome's address bar does. Pressing Enter or AI Mode opens Google Search with your query. Google's privacy policy applies to those requests.

Nothing else is transmitted. The theme contains only colours and sends nothing anywhere.
